Plasticizers for shotcrete

Purpose:

Plasticizers are essential chemical admixtures used in shotcrete for mining to improve the workability, pumpability, and performance of the concrete mix. Types:

Lignosulfonate-Based Plasticizers

Derived from wood pulp. Cost-effective and widely used for general shotcrete applications. Provides moderate water reduction and workability.

Polycarboxylate Ether (PCE)

Based Superplasticizers: High-performance plasticizers. Offers significant water reduction (up to 30%) and excellent workability. Ideal for high-strength shotcrete in demanding mining environments.

Sulfonated Naphthalene Formaldehyde (SNF)-Based Plasticizers

Provides good water reduction and workability. Suitable for shotcrete applications requiring moderate performance.

Modified Lignosulfonates

Enhanced versions of traditional lignosulfonates. Offers better performance than standard lignosulfonates at a lower cost than PCEs.
