Alkali-Silica Reaction (ASR) Inhibitors

Purpose:

ASR inhibitors are used to reduce the risk of alkali-silica reaction.

How do inhibitors work?

This is a chemical reaction between the alkalis in the cement and the reactive silica in the aggregates that can cause the concrete to expand and crack over time.

Types:

Lithium-Based Compounds
Lithium-Based Compounds

These compounds prevent or slow down the alkali-silica reaction by reacting with the reactive silica particles, reducing the risk of expansion and cracking.

Fly Ash or Silica Fume (As Supplementary Materials)
Fly Ash or Silica Fume (As Supplementary Materials)

Both materials are used to replace a portion of the cement in concrete, reducing the overall alkali content and helping to mitigate the ASR effect.

Application areas:

Concrete with Reactive Aggregates
Concrete with Reactive Aggregates

Essential for projects using aggregates that are known to be reactive and prone to alkali-silica reactions, such as certain types of crushed stone or sand.

Advantages:

STRENGTH

Increasing the service life of concrete

PROTECTION

Preventing destruction

SAVING

Reducing repair costs
